Cindy has been a native to South Dakota since landing here with her family in the early 1990’s. Prior to founding Breakthrough Psychological Services, Cindy worked in a human service organization where she played a key role in the development and implementation of several community programs that addressed the needs of the most vulnerable populations in the Aberdeen area. As an organizational leader, Cindy was continually seeking creative ways to foster a dynamic learning environment and to promote high quality family programs that allowed healing and motivated individuals to enhance their quality of life for years to come.

The ACT awards Diplomate Status and CBT Certification to professionals who have demonstrated an advanced level of expertise in cognitive therapy. The Academy's certification process is only open to Licensed Mental Health Professionals and requires them to complete a postgraduate educational course and exam followed by at least one year of experience using cognitive therapy in a clinical setting under supervision of the ACT's Credentialing Committe.

She earned her Master of Science in Counseling Psychology and her undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Cindy is Board Certified through NBCC and is licensed in social work and as a clinical professional counselor for the State of South Dakota. Outside of her private practice, she is actively involved in community initiatives to address and resolve issues of poverty, domestic violence, and family crisis. She is an active board member of the South Dakota Counseling Association (SDCA) and the South Dakota Mental Health Counselors Association (SDMHCA). She is a member of the American Psychological Association, the American Counseling Association, and acts as a Field Examiner, providing clinical assessment research.
